I will be ordering books for Jazz Band students this week. Jazz Band students are reminded to please add their names to the form in Google Classroom by the end of the day on Wednesday to ensure that I have an accurate class list!

Cookie Dough Note
Hi everyone!
Just a quick note about the fundraiser. One of my students pointed out this morning that there is not enough room on the small order forms provided for customer addresses and phone numbers. I think phone numbers would be the priority since each student will be delivering the items to his/her own customers. If the student needs a record of customer addresses he or she could always attach a separate sheet. Thank you!

East Wiltshire Band Program Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Cookie dough fundraisers have been very successful at East Wiltshire in the past. This year we are selling a new product. English Bay Gourmet Cookie Dough offers award winning Canadian-made cookie dough in 6 gourmet flavours!
This year we will be running a two week cookie dough campaign beginning on Thursday, September 26th and closing on Thursday, October 10th.
*Friends and family are asked to to bring their own reusable bags on pick up day as they do not come in boxes.
The English Bay Cookie Dough orders will be delivered on November 14th, just in time for the holiday baking season.Â
THE COOKIE DOUGH
With English Bay Batter you get tasty cookies, but with much less work and without the mess of baking from scratch. Simply scoop the dough from the pail to make as many cookies as you would like, then freeze or refrigerate the rest for next time. The cookie dough can be stored in the freezer for one year, in the refrigerator for 90 days and can be thawed and refrozen until all the dough is used.
FLAVOURS AVAILABLE (Each pail makes approximately 96 14 g cookies)
Chocolate Chip
Candy
Oatmeal Raisin
Double Chocolate
White Chocolate Macadamia
Toffee Supreme
COST – $20.00 per pail for the gourmet flavours.
WHAT ARE WE FUNDRAISING FOR?
All profits from this fundraiser will be shared equally among participants, and will go toward the cost of extra-curricular activities and band field trips at the grade 7, 8, and 9 levels. Band field trips are getting more expensive each year, and it is our hope that this campaign will help to ensure that all students have an opportunity to participate in all special events. Some parents prefer to make an equivalent cash donation, and such donations are welcome as well.
In past years, band students have been able to fund raise over $4000 for the band program during this short campaign. Each student is asked to set a personal goal of selling 4 tubs or boxes in order to help us to achieve this year’s goal.
Order sheets will be distributed to all band students today. Please fill them out and return them to Mrs. Peters with payment no later than Thursday, October 10th, 2019. Cash and cheques made out to East Wiltshire Intermediate School will be accepted. Please return order forms and payment in an envelope or zip-lock bag clearly labeled with the students’ name and class.
- Please note that we are unable to store frozen products at the school so any product that is not picked up will be donated. If your family or friends place orders, you are responsible for pickup of the product at East Wiltshire.
Meet the Staff

I know that it is not always possible to visit the band area during Meet the Staff night, so I am posting the slide show that I will be presenting tomorrow night below. Please drop by on Wednesday evening or send me an e-mail if you have any questions!
Early Morning Band
Early morning band rehearsals begin this week! The school doors will be open by 7:35 a.m. and students are asked to arrive early enough to visit lockers and assemble instruments prior to the beginning of the band rehearsal.
Attendance will be taken and entered in SAS at the beginning of each early morning band practice. You will see these assignment in SAS (ex: 9 Band Sept. 17). Please note that attendance marks are FORMATIVE which means that they will not directly affect the students’ band marks. Students who are unable to attend for any reason are asked to please let me know so that the correct code (absent, excused, late, etc.) can be entered. If you are sending a homeroom teacher an email about an absence on an early morning band day please copy me as well (ampeters@edu.pe.ca). Band rehearsals are a very important component of the band curriculum so unexcused absences will be addressed.
Thank you for your support!

It was fantastic to meet so many East Wiltshire grade 7 students at band camp, and I am really looking forward to meeting all of the grade 8 and 9 students next week!
As many of you know, I was the band director at Stonepark Intermediate for 25 years. I am now feeling very lucky to be part of the East Wiltshire school community, and I am looking forward to getting to know a new group of students and parents during this school year.
This new band blog will be an important source of information for the band program. Please check the home page regularly for news.
Please note that I will not be sending group e-mails throughout the year, as the blog will be the primary source of information for the band program.

Early Morning Band Cancellation Policy
There may be times when I have to cancel or reschedule extracurricular practices. I will always give you as much notice as I can when this happens.
Should a rehearsal be canceled, an announcement will be made at school the day before, or on the radio (CBC, Hot 105.5, Ocean 100) in the morning. An announcement will also be posted on the band blog.
On stormy mornings, please ensure that there are no school cancellations or delays before leaving for band practice. School cancellations and delays which affect East Wiltshire will result in the automatic cancellation of early morning band rehearsals. More detail about cancellations can be found by clicking on the tab in the menu at the top of the page (https://eastwiltband.wordpress.com/cancellation-policy/)
Band Concerts
Participation in band concerts is a highlight of the band experience, and attendance at scheduled performances is a required element of the East Wiltshire band program; please note concert dates as they are provided, and mark them in your calendars. If conflicts arise, please contact me in advance and we will work it out together.
I am looking forward to a great year with the East Wiltshire band students!
