There are many benefits associated with being involved in a band program. Students are given the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new friends and develop their ability to work as a team. Students in the band program also learn to persevere when practice and patience are required to achieve their goals.

In previous years, grade seven rehearsals have been held once a week from 7:35-8:35 a.m. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to early morning band rehearsals. Rehearsals and all band performances/functions are enjoyable and rewarding components of the band curriculum, and all rehearsals and performances are compulsory.

The instrumental music program is a three-year commitment which continues through grade eight and nine. Parental support is essential for student success in the program. Withdrawal from the program may be considered in exceptional circumstances and requires approval from the school administration. Withdrawal from this course in the middle of the school year is not possible due to scheduling issues.
