Grade 7 Field Trip on Thursday

East Wiltshire grade 7 band students will travel to Athena Consolidated School in Summerside on Thursday, May 11th to participate in the annual P.E.I. Beginning Band Day provincial showcase.

Grade 7 band students will have their regular early morning band rehearsal on Tuesday, and a special early morning rehearsal on Thursday (as was previously posted) in preparation for this event.

WE ARE IN NEED OF A PARENT/GUARDIAN OR TWO TO HELP TRANSPORT THE LARGER INSTRUMENTS TO SUMMERSIDE.  IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO DRIVE ON THURSDAY, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT ampeters@edu.pe.ca

Notes for this field trip:

  • Each student is responsible for making sure that they take their own  music, instrument and any supplies needed for the performance (reeds, valve oil, etc.) to Summerside.
  • Students must wear their band vests (with white, long sleeve shirts)  black pants, and dark shoes to school on Thursday. No blue jeans or ripped jeans, please. Black jeans or all black athletic pants or yoga pants are fine.
  • We will travel by school bus, and we will leave East Wiltshire at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Appropriate school bus behavior is expected on the ride to Summerside.
  • Full participation in this event includes listening to and learning from other band performances. Students are expected to listen attentively (without causing distractions of any kind) when other bands are performing.
  • Electronic devices are not to be used inside Athena Consolidated School. Please be aware that chaperones cannot be responsible for the loss or theft of any items during the field trip.
  • The event should finish at approximately 11:30 am.  Students should bring a snack to eat during the mid-morning break, and a water bottle is recommended. UPDATE: We will stop at McDonald’s after the event and students may purchase their lunch there if they wish.
  • Students are responsible for catching up on any school work they miss during the day.  They should be prepared to return to regular classes during period 5 or 6 depending on our return time.

This group of students has been working hard all year, and I am really looking forward to our first band field trip!
