Have a great summer!
Thank you so much to all of the parents and guardians who supported students in the band program this year. It was another challenging school year, but I believe the students still made excellent progress and hopefully they enjoyed making music together through all of the ups and downs! I’m really looking forward to next year and a return to a regular band experience which will include more concerts, field trips, and provincial events.
Thanks to your generosity at the concert, we were able to make a $600 donation to the IWK foundation from the East Wiltshire bands. Thank you to Synthia MacEachern and Susan Morse for collecting the donations at the door on concert night.
If your child has registered for band camp this summer, please check this blog and the band camp website for information. All students who are switching to new instruments in the fall (saxophone, percussion, etc.) were asked to attend the beginner camp unless other arrangements have been made. I have 40 intermediate and senior students registered for the camp so they will find lots of their friends there!
The band camp registration link for EWS students can be found here. Late registrations will be accepted until tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.

Beginner Camp: Monday-Friday, 9:00 – 11:30 am
Intermediate/Senior Camp: Monday-Friday, 9:00 – 3:00 pm
The fee for the camp is $100.00. E-transfers are preferred (eastwiltshire@edu.pe.ca). Please include student’s NAME and REASON for payment (BAND CAMP). If paying by cheque, please make payable to East Wiltshire Intermediate. Cash and cheques must be delivered to the main office at East Wiltshire where receipts can be issued upon request. This fee MUST accompany the registration form in order for the student to be officially registered.
Have a wonderful summer, everyone!
Congratulations to Amy Morse and Steven Dennis who were the recipients of the 2022 achievement awards for band at yesterday’s awards assembly. The awards were presented “In recognition of outstanding achievement in the East Wiltshire Concert and Jazz Bands”
Both of these grade 9 students are dedicated band members who have been key players in the EWS Concert Band and the Jazz Ensemble!
Thank you grade 8’s for all of your hard work in band this year! I’m already looking forward to working with all of you again next year🎶
Grade 8 (Tomorrow, June 16th), Grade 9 (Friday, June 17th)
Pizza will be provided at the bowling alley, but students are responsible for bringing their own water bottle or beverage.
Timeline for both days:
11:30: Leave East Wiltshire
12:00-12:30: Arrive at Murphy’s Bowling Lanes
Pizza Party, Get shoes, etc.
12:30-1:30: Bowling
1:40: Load Busses
2:00: Arrive at East Wiltshire
Just a reminder that extra-curricular early morning band rehearsals are finished for this year. We will continue to play during band classes, so students are asked to bring instruments and music on their usual band days!
Grade 9 band vests should be turned in by this Friday.
Band field trips (pizza and bowling in Charlottetown) will take place this week on Thursday (gr. 8) and Friday (gr. 9). Details to follow!
Students who have been selected to play saxophone and percussion are asked to please register for Band Camp by Friday, June 17th. Select saxophone or percussion for assigned instrument and select beginner for years of experience.
Thank you and have a great weekend!
All “home” instruments should be returned this week. This includes grade 9 spare saxophones, spare instruments on loan for Jazz band, as well as the larger instruments (baritones, tubas, French horns) which were loaned to a few students for home practicing.
Thank you!
Our annual spring band concert will be held on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the East Wiltshire gym. Parents, guardians, family, and friends of our grade 7, 8, and 9 band students are welcome to attend! Band students are asked to arrive at school by 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in their band uniforms.
We have decided to make this concert a fundraiser for the IWK. Many of our East Wiltshire students have accessed the services of this regional health care centre. Donations will be accepted at the door. If you are free to volunteer to help with the collection, please e-mail me at ampeters@edu.pe.ca. Thank you!
