Band Updates

Jazz band practice is canceled for Monday morning and will be rescheduled to Tuesday, February 4th (Day 1) from 12:00-12:45 p.m. Students are asked to eat lunch before coming to practice and will be expected to return to their 5th period class following the rehearsal.

A reminder to grade 9 parents and students that the band trip deposit to confirm participation is due on Monday, February 3rd.The $100 deposit (which will count as the first of two equal payments for the trip) can be sent in as an e-transfer (please indicate that the funds are for the grade 9 band trip deposit), cheque (made out to East Wiltshire Intermediate School) or cash. Cash payments should be made in the office so that receipts can be provided. *Adjustments to the final payment may need to be made once the number of students traveling is confirmed.

The grade 8 and 9 concert bands will be performing in the annual PEI Band Days festival at the Delta Prince Edward on Wednesday, March 4th. Grade 8’s will perform in the morning and Grade 9’s will perform in the afternoon. Further details will be provided as the date gets closer.

Have you heard the sound of band music in your house lately? All three grade levels have playing assignments due over the next few weeks, as well as new band repertoire to practice for upcoming concerts. Please remind students to take instruments home regularly (especially on weekends) and ask them to show you what they are working on! Thank you and have a great weekend!

December 12, 2019

A huge congratulations and thank you is extended to all of the students who participated in the Christmas concert on Tuesday evening. It was a wonderful evening of music, and a great demonstration of the talent and dedication of our music students.

A special thank you to the students who did MC duties during the concert. You did a great job!

Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, we were also able to donate funds to help support families in our community during the Christmas season.

All extra-curricular band activities (with the exception of grade 9 Honours Band) are now finished until after the Christmas break.

*Due to a conflict in the morning for students who volunteer with the breakfast program, tomorrow’s grade 9 Honours Band rehearsal will be held during the lunch break.
