It wasn’t possible for us to take the bands on the road this year for our annual Beginning Band Day and PEI Band Days music festivals but we were able to have Mr. FitzGerald come to us for three excellent music sessions on Tuesday morning. We would normally do something on our spring field trip days to reward/thank students for their commitment to band throughout the year and, since we weren’t able to do that in April, we have scheduled some fun days in June!
On Thursday, June 16th, the Grade 8 band students will travel to Murphy’s Bowling Lanes for an afternoon pizza and bowling party. The Grade 9 band students will have their afternoon pizza and bowling party the next day (Friday, June 17th).
The grade 7 band students will have a pizza, movie and pajama afternoon at East Wiltshire in late June (date to be determined).
The band students have worked very hard this year, and they have been incredibly resilient and cooperative despite all of the restrictions and inconveniences that COVID has created for student musicians.
If there are any parents who might be available to help chaperone the bowling parties please let me know.
Have a great weekend!
Mark your calendars! Our annual spring band concert will be held on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the East Wiltshire gym. Parents, guardians, family, and friends of our 167 grade 7, 8, and 9 band students are welcome to attend!

A new set of long sleeved white shirts for grade 7 students will be arriving early next week and I am ordering replacement vests tomorrow.
The following grade 7 students have not yet received a band vest. There are still quite a few students absent these days, so please send me an email (ampeters@edu.pe.ca) to let me know if I have missed anyone. Thank you!

The EWS Band Day clinics will take place in the band room tomorrow morning. Students are reminded to bring instruments and music to school!
Schedule:
Period 1: Grade 8 Band (8AG and 8DH)
Period 2: Grade 7 Band (7E, 7F, and 7GC)
Period 3: Grade 9 Band (9G and 9CE)
Congratulations to all of the band students on their excellent performances on Friday morning! The grade 6 students (and their teachers) really enjoyed the concert, and I hope that we will see lots of applications for the EWS band program come in over the next couple of weeks.
Our annual PEI Band Days music festival was cancelled again this year due to COVID-19, but the PSB and the DELL have once again provided sub time and funding for band clinicians to work with band students at their schools. The EWS Band Days sessions will be held on Tuesday, April 26th during periods 1, 2 and 3. Each grade level band will work with the guest director for one period. Students will not need to wear uniforms for this event, but they will need to bring their instruments and music.
Rehearsal Schedule for this week:
Monday, April 25th: Jazz Band (3:15-4:00)
Tuesday, April 26th: PEI Band Days Workshops
Wednesday, April 27th: Early AM Rehearsal for Grade 8 Percussionists (7:45 am)
Thursday, April 28th: Early AM Rehearsal for Grade 9 Woodwinds (7:45 am)
Friday, April 29th: Grade 7 early am band is CANCELED

Jazz band rehearsal is canceled for today and will be rescheduled to Monday after school.
The band concert for grade 6 students will be held in the EWS gym tomorrow beginning at 10:00 a.m.. Students are reminded to come prepared with instruments and music. Uniforms must be worn by grade 8 and 9 students but they may wear dark jeans or pants (no ripped jeans or bright colors please!) instead of black pants if they wish.
Grade 7 uniforms have been ordered. For this performances grade 7 students are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing school colors (red, blue and white).
