Band Trip Payments
Hi everyone!
It’s been a busy week and, first of all, I want to say congratulations to all of the band students for their excellent performances for the grade 6 students from our feeder schools this morning! If you know any students who will be in grade 7 at EWS next year, please encourage them to apply to be part of the band program! The application deadline is next Friday.
Our current grade 7 students also did a fantastic job of representing East Wiltshire during their field trip to Summerside yesterday. Thank you to everyone who helped to make it such a great day!
Grade 9 parents are asked to please send in the final payment of $150 for the grade 9 band trip if you haven’t already done so. We have had to pay for most of the activities (as well as the full amount for the hotel and the bus) in advance, so we need all student payments to be completed as soon as possible. If you aren’t sure if you have paid, please send me an e-mail. I received an updated list from the office yesterday. Thank you and enjoy your weekend!
We have a van for tomorrow:)
Just a little update to let you know that a grade 7 parent has volunteered to come along tomorrow with her van to transport the larger instruments. A huge thank you to Nora’s Mom (Carinne McGeoghegan) for offering to help us out on her day off!

Grade 7 Field Trip on Thursday
East Wiltshire grade 7 band students will travel to Athena Consolidated School in Summerside on Thursday, May 11th to participate in the annual P.E.I. Beginning Band Day provincial showcase.
Grade 7 band students will have their regular early morning band rehearsal on Tuesday, and a special early morning rehearsal on Thursday (as was previously posted) in preparation for this event.
WE ARE IN NEED OF A PARENT/GUARDIAN OR TWO TO HELP TRANSPORT THE LARGER INSTRUMENTS TO SUMMERSIDE. IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO DRIVE ON THURSDAY, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT ampeters@edu.pe.ca
Notes for this field trip:
- Each student is responsible for making sure that they take their own music, instrument and any supplies needed for the performance (reeds, valve oil, etc.) to Summerside.
- Students must wear their band vests (with white, long sleeve shirts) black pants, and dark shoes to school on Thursday. No blue jeans or ripped jeans, please. Black jeans or all black athletic pants or yoga pants are fine.
- We will travel by school bus, and we will leave East Wiltshire at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Appropriate school bus behavior is expected on the ride to Summerside.
- Full participation in this event includes listening to and learning from other band performances. Students are expected to listen attentively (without causing distractions of any kind) when other bands are performing.
- Electronic devices are not to be used inside Athena Consolidated School. Please be aware that chaperones cannot be responsible for the loss or theft of any items during the field trip.
- The event should finish at approximately 11:30 am. Students should bring a snack to eat during the mid-morning break, and a water bottle is recommended. UPDATE: We will stop at McDonald’s after the event and students may purchase their lunch there if they wish.
- Students are responsible for catching up on any school work they miss during the day. They should be prepared to return to regular classes during period 5 or 6 depending on our return time.
This group of students has been working hard all year, and I am really looking forward to our first band field trip!
