Band this week

Congratulations to the grade 9 band on a very successful visit to Eliot River Elementary on Friday! The students and staff really enjoyed the music, and we answered some excellent questions from the grade 6 students about the band program at East Wiltshire. Thank you to Mr. Cusack for driving the equipment truck!

We have received our cheque from the Anne of Green Gables Chocolates fundraising campaign and a total of $1868.50 was raised for the band program! Thank you for your support. The orders will be sorted and labeled, and they will be available for parents to pick up on Tuesday afternoon from 3:30-5:30 pm in the cafeteria. A copy of the online orders will be attached to each order so that sellers will know which items were ordered by each of their customers.

Students who are taking orders home on the bus will be asked to wait until the next day (Wednesday, December 4th) to pick up their orders. It will be faster for students who are catching buses to pick up at their orders at the end of the day on Wednesday once the majority of orders have been picked up.

The EWS Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, December 12th at 7:00 p.m. Students will be asked to arrive at 6:30 p.m. Uniforms are required, and Santa hats, reindeer antlers, red and green light-up necklaces, etc. are strongly encouraged! The white shirts for the grade 7’s have been ordered and should arrive before the concert.

Thank you!

There was some confusion today about the end date for our fundraiser. I’ve requested an extra week for the campaign so that everyone can get their orders in! Orders can now be placed until midnight on November 21st. Orders will be delivered to the school for pick-up during the following week (details to follow).

Thank you!

A heartfelt thank you to the Grade 9 Band students for their participation in a very wet Remembrance Day service this morning at the Kingston Legion. You were fantastic, and your presence and your musical contribution to the ceremony was greatly appreciated by everyone present.

Thank you to everyone who helped to move the equipment from the school to the Legion and back again.

PS Please open your instrument cases to ensure that any remaining moisture has a chance to dry!

Remembrance Day Service

The decision has been made to hold the Remembrance Day Service outside at the Kingston Legion Cenotaph.

Band students are asked to please meet at the Legion at 10:00 am. Please dress warmly (hat, mitts, coat), and be prepared for the possibility of rain. If you have plastic three hole insert sheets to put your music in, that might be a good idea! I will bring as many of those sheets as I can find.

We will be loading equipment at East Wiltshire at 9:15 am. If your instrument was left at the school last week you can pick it up then.

Thank you for your commitment to participating in this important community event.
